Welcome to the Bang Average investor!
So what is the point of all of this?
Finances has a huge impact on everyone’s life and financial freedom is the dream. The ability to improve your life to a point where you are free to live your life how you want, I imagine everyone shares this dream. But even a decent job is unlikely to get you to that level of financial freedom on its own.
Managing your personal finances is important, but investing is the real key to making that step up. I’ve had an interest in investing for a while, this grew further when I realised it could be a way to get me to financial freedom.
Nothing like this is taught in schools, even though personal finance is something that is part of every persons life. The closest you may get is business studies, a subject I didn’t choose to study and isn’t mandatory. I studied engineering at uni and have worked in related roles within the utilities sector ever since, so nothing to do with finance. Although, I realised early on in my career that having a good understanding of finance had the potential to greatly improve my life, so I took it upon myself to learn in my own time.
Whilst reading up on the subject, I noticed most of the websites were focused on the USA. That may go some way to explaining why personal finance and investing is more popular in places like the USA compared to the UK. Information for the UK was few and far between, this gave me an idea. Create a website that focuses on all aspects of personal finance in the UK and brings all the relevant information together in one place. Then to boost its credibility, share the real impact and results to see what works and what doesn’t. This led to the Bang Average investor you’re on now.
Can an average person living in the UK, starting with no financial education, achieve great financial performance through teaching themself?
An endless supply of information and advice from experts worldwide is freely available on the internet. I am free to choose what and who to follow, and what to avoid. These chosen ideas will be applied in the UK within its specific rules and nuances.
This website is a summary of what I’ve found that I think is relevant, what I have chosen to do and to then see if the strategy has the intended results. It aims to share all of this in as simple, relatable and easy to understand manner as possible. Whether this proves to help me achieve my goals or not, I hope it inspires others to go out and do their own research into the subject. If I end up achieving good results, then there is no reason others can not. After all, I’m only average.
For anyone who follows my journey, you won’t find posts and articles spammed with random adverts. This space is designed to be of the highest quality possible where only partners and affiliates that I use or would use, appear. They provide benefit and support in achieving my goals whilst helping to cover the costs of running this website.
